The Grand Ole Opry announced a very special homecoming show yesterday, set to take place on September 28th. In May the Grand Ole Opry House suffered in the flooding that affected much of Nashville, and the show has been on the road since.
With a host of stars and special shows lined up to celebrate the return Last.fm Trends picked out the five most popular acts booked for the homecoming.
Many of the acts booked for the show have released albums regarded as modern classics. At Last.fm they’ve all seen hundreds of thousands of scrobbles – that’s tracks played by listeners – and competition for the top five is fierce.
With 4,282,700 scrobbles from 299,331 listeners Brad Paisley is a long way in the lead. Dierks Bentley comes in at number two, but his latest release could see that rocket up in the coming months. Montgomery Gentry just creeps in at number five, ahead of several other performers all bubbling around the one million scrobbles mark.
Whoever’s on top, the show’s going to be a classic. Congratulations to all at the Grand Ole Opry, and happy homecoming.
